The 2024 elections will have left our communities, movements, and society in a dangerous place. That’s why we’re convening a special post-election day assembly on Monday, November 11th, 2024 from 12-2 PM ET, Rising Together: Assessing the Post-Election Day Moment, Charting What’s Next.

As we move through this uncertain period, we invited movement leaders, organizers, independent journalists, scholars, and community members to come together for critical reflection and connection.

What this gathering entailed:

  • Insights and analysis from journalists Norman Stockwell (Progressive.org), Laura Flanders (The Laura Flanders Show), and Erin Aubry Kaplan (contributing writer for The New York Times, Politico, LA Times)
  • A panel discussion with Matt Nelson (Presente.org), Suren Moodliar (How We Win), Dan Schlademan (union strategist, Senior Advisor O2O), and Cheri Honkala (Poor People’s Army)
  • Breakout sessions on key topics like the future of voting rights & election integrity, mobilizing against political violence, understanding elite responses, and grassroots interventions
  • Open space for participant-led discussions
  • Mapping of our assets, skills, and knowledge
  • Miki’ala Catalfano (Native Roots Network), Ben Manski (GMU Professor), and April Doner (Living World Studios) will guide us through the Assembly.

This was more than a debrief—this was a call to action and solidarity. Although we are facing unprecedented challenges and threats to our communities, in moments of crisis, we also find new possibilities.

Together we made sense of the moment collectively and share ideas for immediate action and long-term organizing. Together we made sense of the chaos and found a path forward.
